I am new to this forum and a proud new owner of a Kiebitz. Unfortunately I don't speak German. Only French or English, sorry for that...
I bought the Kiebitz B9 N°219 with an MA12P engine(now based in south-east France at LFTF), and I would like to install an electronic ignition in addition to the regular contact breaker. I heard that Mr Platzer can provide such electronic ignition and I would like to get more informations:
- How many different type of electronic ignition exist for the Nissan ? - Which one is the best or the one prefered/built by Mr Platzer ? - Where/how to buy it ? - Price ?
Hi Alex, I am running a Pönitz ignition, with some mor changes to the engine and belt for the Prop. After almost 100hrs it still runs perfect. If you are interested in more information please contact me directly.
Hi Alex, in Germany will invalidate the approval if you installed parts that have not been approved by the carrier approval. I do not know how it is in France. Michael Platzer offers the following approved solutions: 1 - Mechanical ignition Ignition (should be the stronger stainless steel) 2 - Mechanical / electronic ignition (ignition contact stays inside and in addition, an electronic timer ist build in the head - redundancy) 3 - Double electronic counterpart ignition (no mechanical Ignition but two electronic sensors - redundant)
The advantage of all solutions is that the engine can still be started by hand! I just test the third variant!
In France you can change whatever you want on a home built ultra-light aircraft, you don't have to tell the french aviation authorities (except for a major change in the frame and/or the engine, in this case just a paper declaration is enough), you just have to do a new weight & balance data sheet and that's it. This is the good side of it
I am looking for a dual ignition by keeping the standard mechanical ignition breaker and adding an electronic ignition for redundancy as well as for better engine efficiency. So, the option N°2 is what I'm looking for...
Anu chance to have M.Platzer's e-mail adress in order to contact him for pricing and availability ??
